Murphy K's 12 En Route to 4-1 Lake Monsters Win
The Vermont Lake Monsters went home winners at Welsh Field, thanks in large part to starter Hoyt Murphy. Murphy stifled the Newark Falcons, enabling Vermont to grab the 4-1 win. Ernest Reese was credited with the save, his 12th in 14 tries. Vermont goes to 71-37. The win puts them 15½ games up in their division.

It was a dominating performance from Murphy, who is one of the sport's most highly regarded players, both in the clubhouse and on the field. Murphy, who finished 5th in the FR in ERA with 2.93 in 2059, raised his record to 12-3 with 138 strikeouts.

"Winning is always a team effort," Murphy said after the game.
