The Reading Railbirds had to overcome a fine effort from Iowa pitcher Luis Santiago Jr. to grab a narrow 3-2 win at The Cornfield. Santiago Jr. went 7.2 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner in relief was Kenny Goldsmith. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-0. The Frontier Northern-leading Railbirds are 64-46.

Dave Rouse, the four-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Rouse contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th inning to put Reading up, 3-2.

"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Rouse.
