Burn Score Late to Nip Revolution, 7-6
|
The Death Valley Burn downed the Boston Revolution, 7-6. The hitting star was catcher Philip Baker. Baker went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs, a walk, and was hit by a pitch for the Burn. The win was credited to John Gates in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Meiji Ikeda took the loss. The Revolution, now 3-8, continue their sluggish start.
Sean Danielston was the walk-off hero for Death Valley. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Burn first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Lee Scott told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
