Ridge Raptors Fall Short, 3-2, at Philadelphia
|
The Philadelphia Cheesesteaks had to overcome a good performance from Redstone pitcher Gerald Tynsdale to claim a 3-2 win at William Penn Park. Tynsdale went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Umarah bin Umayr earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. The win brings the Cheesesteaks to 3-7, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
Steve Baker, who finished 2nd in the FR in on-base percentage with .408 in 2070, came through for Philadelphia with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. The center fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 1 run batted in.
Baker called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
