Starting pitcher Juan Marino was a major factor in the 5-0 Death Valley Burn triumph over the Iowa Crop Circles. The Burn, now 7-3, have played some good baseball in the early going.

Death Valley used the hitting of Howard Boyer to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Burn on top, 5-0. For the game, Boyer had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Andy Ward.
