The Philadelphia Cheesesteaks beat the Iowa Crop Circles, 3-1, at The Cornfield. The Cheesesteaks got a fine performance from second baseman Miguel Lugo, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Matt Barraclough, the winning pitcher, is now 1-0. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 1. Clint Kimball notched his 1st save of the season.
The Cheesesteaks had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 3-1, Philadelphia, with no one out. Iowa, with the bases empty, was mounting a threat. Emílio Ibarra dug in at the plate, but on a 1-2 changeup, he grounded out.
