The Cape Canaveral Launch did just enough to sneak past the Vermont Lake Monsters, 4-3, at Welsh Field. Cape Canaveral pitcher Gordon Ziersch, in particular, had a standout performance. Ziersch got the win, improving to 9-9. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. Ziersch allowed 3 runs. Edward Rascoe was called on to finish, recording his 12th save.
Cape Canaveral used a well-timed hit by Brad Coleman to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Launch ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"I believe in our guys," said Cape Canaveral skipper . "I like the energy they're playing with."
The first-place Launch have won 5 consecutive games.
