Late Magic Gets Amarillo 3-1 Win
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Amarillo Chicken Haulers and Minneapolis Maulers.

Minneapolis got a big-time effort from pitcher Victor Shelton, but it wasn't enough to keep the Amarillo Chicken Haulers from winning the game, 3-1. Shelton threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Glenn Patterson collected his 3rd save.

Had John O'Murphy not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, O'Murphy hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Chicken Haulers.

"Every loss stings," said Minneapolis manager Spoof Smith. "This one is no exception."

The win puts Amarillo at 59-57 this season.
