Richmond Downed, 4-2, by Falcons
|
The Newark Falcons faced a tough opponent in Richmond pitcher Curt Brown, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Battle Field by a final score of 4-2. Brown went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. Newark reliever Spike Bennett picked up the win, upping his record to 2-4. David Flint absorbed the loss. Newark now has a record of 66-52 with the win.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Jerry Carter? The 27-year old right fielder Carter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put Newark up, 4-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We put together a nice win," Carter said.
