Richmond Beats Newark, 4-1
|
Richmond pitcher Stephen Dundee had a large part in his team beating the Newark Falcons, 4-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Dewitt Boyle got the save, his 40th in 41 chances. The first-place Ravens, at 73-46, lead the Appalachian Southern by 4½ games.
Mark Campbell was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Richmond. The 34-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Duncan Watson. It was his 47th hit of the season.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Newark manager .
