Falcons Beat Minneapolis, 4-3
|
Minneapolis wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Jorge Martínez, falling to the Newark Falcons, 4-3. Martínez threw 8.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. The last-place Maulers have dropped 4 straight games.
The game came to an abrupt end with two out in the bottom of the ninth. On a pitch from Steve Núñez, Alfredo Pérez hit a run-scoring single. It gave Newark the 4-3 win.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Pérez told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
