Storm Lose By a Run at Washington, 5-4
|
The performance of Chris Duncan proved critical in helping Washington beat West Island , 5-4. The Monuments right fielder went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times. Steve Hankins earned the win for Washington. He lasted 7.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 3-0. Brandon Holcomb was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
With Washington leading 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Duncan came up to bat against West Island pitcher Lee Costa. Duncan hit a curveball to right for a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Monuments on top, 5-0.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Duncan told the Washington Daily.
The Storm fall to 5-7 and continue to sputter in the early going.
