Vermont and Minneapolis duked it out and the Lake Monsters came out victorious.

Starting pitcher Gabriel Beltrán pitched well enough to help the Vermont Lake Monsters beat the Minneapolis Maulers, 8-7. The Lake Monsters raised their record to 47-72.

Vermont catcher Earl Callahan contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a cutter to left field for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Lake Monsters ahead, 8-2.

"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Beltrán.
