Down to Defeat Goes Mexico City, 7-2
|
The Crab Apple Cove Mashers defeated the Mexico City Diablos, 7-2. First Baseman Ed Rebow deserved a large share of the credit. Rebow went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Mashers. Mexico City has now lost 4 consecutive games.
Orlando Colón had a big bases-clearing double for the Mashers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Crab Apple Cove leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from Troy Smith, who is on pace for 203 strikeouts this season, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mashers ahead, 6-0.
Rebow told a Crab Apple Cove Today reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
