Late Heroics Net Railbirds 6-4 Win
|
Boston left fielder Juan Tabáres had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Tabáres was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2, even as Reading beat the Revolution, 6-4, in 11 innings. Miguel Hernández, now 3-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Reading has now won 3 straight, while the Revolution have lost 4 in a row.
The decisive blow was delivered by Ryan Hunt in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a 2-run home run off 26-year old right-handed pitcher Martin Wilson to win the game for Reading. The home crowd went nuts.
"Exciting game to play in," said Hunt. "Getting the win makes it even better."
