|
Vicente Méndez was a major contributor to the 8-3 Alcatraz Island win over Havana. The Jail Break first baseman was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2. Greg Payne, who is tied for 2nd in the FR in quality starts with 17, was the winner. He's now 10-6. The loser was Steven Carroll. The Jail Break saw their win-loss record go to 58-60. At the same time, the Comrades fell to 61-57.
Scot Potter, who finished 2nd in the AP in triples with 13 in 2065, helped out the Alcatraz Island cause in the top of the second inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the left fielder was 2-6 with 2 singles.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Méndez told the Alcatraz Island Daily News.
