Alfredo Careno was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Minneapolis and Newark. The Maulers right-hander helped his team beat the Falcons, 2-1. Picking up the save was Greg Douglas, his 23rd. The Maulers now have a record of 52-67.

Minneapolis used a well-timed hit by Gonzalo Soto to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Maulers ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Soto told the Minneapolis Daily News.
