The Alcatraz Island Jail Break got a sterling performance from first baseman Vicente Méndez, but the Death Valley Burn still prevailed, 8-7. Méndez hit 3 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored three times. António Mireles picked up the win, improving his season record to 8-7. He struck out 3 in 7 innings. John Gates earned the save, his 29th in 30 tries.
