Diablos Suffer 13-2 Drubbing
|
The Iowa Crop Circles stopped the Mexico City Diablos, 13-2, at The Cornfield. The Crop Circles got a big game from Junior Haynes, who went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and a double. He drove in 9 runs and scored twice. Iowa is now 54-67, Mexico City 48-74.
With Iowa leading 7-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Haynes came up to bat against Mexico City pitcher Bill Strachan. Haynes hit a fastball to left for a grand slam home run. His 8th home run of the season put the Crop Circles on top, 11-2.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Iowa manager Andy Ward.
