Chicken Haulers Earn Late Win
The Amarillo Chicken Haulers sent the home crowd home ecstatic.

Though he had a terrific game, Mark Armstrong could not prevent his team, the Cape Canaveral Launch, from absorbing a loss. Amarillo won the game, 2-1. Armstrong went 2 for 5 with a home run. The winner was Tim Reynolds in relief. His record improves to 6-6. Nick Sharpley took the loss.

Batting in the bottom of the tenth, 27-year old third baseman Matt Gonzáles had a real shot to win the game. Cape Canaveral pitcher Nick Sharpley was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Gonzáles hit a run-scoring single. The Chicken Haulers had a walk-off triumph.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Gonzáles.

Amarillo is now 55-67, Cape Canaveral 65-56.
