The Orlando Rum Runners got a sterling performance from pitcher Bill Young, but the Vermont Lake Monsters still prevailed, 6-4. Young threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Vermont reliever Eric Bennett picked up the win to move to 3-3. Larry Ingilby suffered the loss. Jim Arnold was credited with the save, his 25th in 28 tries.
Alliance, Ohio-born Paul King came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded and the Lake Monsters trailing 4-3, he hit a 2-run single to right-center to put Vermont on top.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said King.
The Lake Monsters sport a record of 48-73.
