Lake Monsters Suffer 2-1 Home Defeat
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters wasted an impressive 5.1-inning effort from starter Ernest Reese, falling, 2-1, to the Orlando Rum Runners at Welsh Field. Bill Young earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4.1 innings. His record is now 3-0. Orlando has run its win streak to 5 straight.
Mike Allen, who finished 4th in the AP in slugging percentage with .555 in 2071, had a direct impact on the outcome. Allen contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to put Orlando up, 2-0.
"Runs were tough to come by," said Allen. "But we scored just enough to win."
