The Orlando Rum Runners, behind a great outing from Jimmy McQuartie defeated the Vermont Lake Monsters, 2-0, at Welsh Field. The winner was McQuartie. He threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Carlos Delgado. Brent Pugh earned the save for Orlando, his 30th of the year.

Manuel Ortíz, who finished 5th in the FR in hits with 173 in 2066, had a direct impact on the outcome. Ortíz contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Orlando up, 2-0.
