Ravens Tack 5-3 Loss on West Island
|
The Richmond Ravens beat the West Island Storm, 5-3. Richmond pitcher and Phoenix, Arizona, native Tomás Chávez led the way. The winning pitcher was Chávez, now 7-7. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5. Noriyuki Nan closed it out for his 19th save.
Eric Gentry, the 32-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Gentry contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the sixth inning to put Richmond up, 5-2.
"Tomás is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Richmond manager Jason Cary.
The Ravens sit in second place in the Appalachian Southern with a record of 65-57.
