Lake Monsters Need Extra Frames to Get Past Rum Runners
|
John Hill, who is tied for 10th in the AP with a 1.19 WHIP, had a strong outing for the Vermont Lake Monsters against the Orlando Rum Runners at Welsh Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Vermont is in third place in the Appalachian Northern with a record of 53-70.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Vermont second baseman Jorge Barajas, facing Brent Pugh, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Lake Monsters the 4-3 win.
"Walking a team off at the end -- there's no greater feeling," said Barajas.
