Late Charge Gets Death Valley 3-1 Win
|
The Death Valley Burn had to overcome a good performance from Alcatraz Island pitcher Chalis Kilonzo to claim a 3-1 win at The Burn Yard. Kilonzo went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. Corbin Jenkins, now 3-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. With the win, Death Valley upped its record to 65-60.
Sergio López hit a 2-run double off Cecil Ellis in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Burn in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, López had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," López told the Death Valley Herald. "And padding the Death Valley win column."
