The Minneapolis Maulers cruised to a win over the Newark Falcons, 12-1, at MacLaren Stadium. Eric Ward led the way, going 2-for-4 for Minneapolis. The second-place Falcons have lost 4 consecutive games.

Marvin Harris had a big bases-clearing double for the Maulers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Minneapolis leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Kunitaro Watanabe, who is tied for 2nd in the AP in complete games with 1, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 24th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Maulers ahead, 6-0.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Newark manager Brandon T. "They smoked us."
