Lake Monsters Get One-Run Win at Minneapolis
|
Starting pitcher Carlos Delgado had a solid game. He was a big reason the Vermont Lake Monsters throttled the Minneapolis Maulers, 3-2. The Lake Monsters, at 78-49, have a comfortable 15½-game lead in their division.
The Lake Monsters got an important contribution from right fielder Joe Ward, who in the top of the sixth hit a 0-1 fastball into left for a solo home run. It was his 26th home run of the season and put the Lake Monsters ahead, 3-1.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Minneapolis manager Marty Marty Boeck.
