The Laredo Border Jumpers called upon starter Fernando Segura, and he delivered, leading his team to victory over the Mexico City Diablos, 4-1. Segura went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 7-4. Andrew Dougherty notched his 34th save in 36 chances.
Laredo used the bat of Harvey Turner to get the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Border Jumpers ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"We'll savor this win," Turner told the Laredo Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
The Border Jumpers lead the Frontier Southern by 2 games.
