Mashers Take Tight Tangle
|
The Crab Apple Cove Mashers got a magnificent performance from pitcher Erik Courtney, who muffled the Glacier Bay offense en route to a tight, 2-1 Mashers win at Vargas Field. Crab Apple Cove reliever Ed Forrest picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Jonathan Bower took the loss. With the win, Crab Apple Cove goes to 60-69, while the Ice Pirates fall to 83-46.
The Mashers got a clutch hit from designated hitter Gonzalo Pimentel. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Mashers.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Mashers manager , "I like our chances."
