Starting pitcher Juan Gallardo pitched well enough to help the Reading Railbirds beat the Iowa Crop Circles, 5-4. The win lifted the Reading record to 72-57.

Reading needed the clutch hitting of Richard Elmore to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Railbirds on top, 5-4. For the game, Elmore had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Elmore told the Reading Citizen.
