Railbirds Turn Back Crop Circles, 5-3
|
The Reading Railbirds knocked off the Iowa Crop Circles, 5-3, in Frontier action at The Cornfield. Reading pitcher and Winnipeg, Canada, native Connor Kelloway had an outstanding performance. The winner was Kelloway. He threw 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs. The loser was Sam Woodward. Ed Leibnitz earned his 15th save in 18 tries.
Reading used a clutch at-bat from Eugene Bonner to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Railbirds ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Reading manager Slam Dunks.
Reading currently is in second place in the Frontier Northern at 73-56.
