High Tide Sneak Past Falcons, 3-2
|
The High Tide grabbed a win, 3-2, at Champagne of Beers Field, overcoming a fine effort from Newark pitcher Juan Vargas. Vargas went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. Honolulu reliever Edgar Arroyo was the winner. His record is now 6-3. Jim Reed took the loss. At 52-76, the High Tide are currently 4th in the Appalachian Southern.
The most significant at-bat for Honolulu came with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the ninth. High Tide shortstop Aaron Mannington hit a run-scoring double to win the game.
"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Honolulu field general Mark Sambor.
