Aces Drop Chicken Haulers, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Atlantic City Aces and the Amarillo Chicken Haulers, Cory Clark, who is on pace for 266 strikeouts this season, was the difference-maker. The Atlantic City right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Clark yielded 2 runs over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 9-9. Joaquín Moreno, who finished 4th in the FR in saves with 33 last year, earned the save for Atlantic City.
Atlantic City catcher Tetsui Matsuura contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 104th hit of the season and put the Aces ahead, 2-0.
"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Aces manager .
The win for the Aces raised their record to 65-64.
