Iowa got a terrific game from second baseman Fred Cole. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Reading, 5-4. Cole went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. With the win over Iowa, the Railbirds improved to 74-56.

Reading used the hitting of Eugene Bonner to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Railbirds on top, 3-1. For the game, Bonner had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Reading manager Slam Dunks called it "a pretty good win."
