Maulers Suffer 3-1 Home Defeat
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Vermont Lake Monsters and the Minneapolis Maulers, pitcher John Hill was the difference between victory and defeat. The Vermont right-hander earned kudos in the 3-1 Lake Monsters win. Chris Thomas was credited with the save, his 26th in 32 tries. With the win over Minneapolis, the Lake Monsters improved to 56-73.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Paul King? The Vermont left fielder had a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Lake Monsters on top, 2-1. For the game, King had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"John knows how to get ahead of hitters, stay ahead of hitters, and put people out," said Vermont manager Kevin Tucker.
