Militia Win Nail-Biter
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Trump Stadium. But Juan Ruíz conjured up just enough offense to carry the Militia past the Atlantic City Aces, 3-2. Ruíz was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Juan Solís, 7-5, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 3 innings. The Militia move to 63-67 with the win, while the Aces drop to 42-88.
The game was all tied up in the top of the 11th, until Ruíz delivered big-time for Michigan, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Tomás García. The game-changing hit put the Militia on top, 3-2.
"We were in it," said Atlantic City manager Chris Stephan. "We just didn't score enough runs."
