Crop Circles Nip Revolution, 2-1
|
Jackie Robinson Place was the site of a true pitchers' duel.
The Boston Revolution could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Francisco Silva into a win. Instead, the Iowa Crop Circles prevailed, 2-1, in 10 innings. Silva came in in relief and pitched to 23 batters. Ted Morgan, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0.
Iowa used the timely hitting of Clyde Ashe to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Crop Circles on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"There's no quit in this team," said Crop Circles manager Andy Ward.
The Revolution drop to 5-9, as their fitful start to the 2072 campaign continues.
