The inspired effort of Vermont catcher Richard Kass was not enough to prevent a loss, 8-5, to the Keg Creek Coyotes. Kass went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winner in relief was Bob Reed. He is now 11-4. The left-hander allowed 5 runs on 8 hits in 6.1 innings. Víctor Escobar wrapped it up, recording his 28th save.

Tom Day, who finished 2nd in the AP in doubles with 53 in 2071, helped out the Keg Creek cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the right fielder was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI.

Keg Creek manager was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
