Starting pitcher Kunitaro Watanabe was a major factor in the 1-0 Washington Monuments triumph over the Vermont Lake Monsters. Washington reliever Brandon Holcomb picked up the win, raising his record to 4-5. Steven Young was tagged with the loss. The Monuments, at 78-56, have now won 11 straight.

Kyle Ledbrook was the walk-off hero for Washington. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Monuments catcher hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

"Eventually, the carousel ride will end," said Ledbrook. "But for now, we'll do our best to enjoy it."
