Hoffman Lifts Diablos to 7-3 Triumph
The Mexico City Diablos topped the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates, 7-3, at Corona Field. Mexico City left fielder Jared Hoffman was a spark plug for the offense. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Leroy Welch earned his 21st save in 25 chances. With the win, Mexico City upped its record to 69-69.

There was more than one reason the Diablos beat the Ice Pirates, but Hoffman's big at-bat in the bottom of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"I felt good up there," said Hoffman. "I saw the ball well."
