The Vermont Lake Monsters used an offensive barrage to beat the Keg Creek Coyotes, 15-2, at Welsh Field. Joe Ward led the way, going 3-for-5 for Vermont. Shojiro Ageda got credit for the win, improving to 11-2. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 7 innings. The Appalachian Northern-leading Lake Monsters are 87-53.

With Vermont leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Ward hit a curveball from Santiago Soto for a grand slam home run. It was his 29th home run of the season and put the Lake Monsters ahead, 7-2.

Keg Creek manager Jay Kunstler called the blowout loss "just something that happens."
