Lake Monsters Win Thriller, 9-8
The Vermont Lake Monsters overcame a pretty good performance by Michigan first baseman José Acevedo, beating the Militia, 9-8, in 18 innings. Acevedo was 2-6 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Vermont reliever Kyle Dunn picked up the win, upping his record to 4-5. Miguel Torres absorbed the loss. Vermont goes to 59-82, Michigan to 70-70.

The Lake Monsters got a clutch hit from third baseman Lawrence Smith. In the bottom of the 18th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Lake Monsters.

"A great game, a great day," said Smith about the win. "I can't complain."
