Cheesesteaks Jolt Ridge Raptors, 3-2, with Late Rally
|
The home crowd was treated to a thrilling, walk-off win.
The Philadelphia Cheesesteaks beat the Redstone Ridge Raptors, 3-2, at William Penn Park. Ronnie Yan, in particular, was impressive. He went 5 for 5 with a double and 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs. Philadelphia reliever Ernest Reese picked up the win, upping his record to 8-9. Jeff Johns absorbed the loss.
Manuel Vega was the walk-off hero for Philadelphia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Cheesesteaks designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Philadelphia manager Joey Santangelo said.
With the win, Philadelphia raised its record to 84-57.
