With 6-3 Win, Monuments Improve to 85-57
|
Esteban Lozaya, who is tied for 10th in the AP with a 9.7 K/9 rate, was locked in. The right-hander led the Washington Monuments to a 6-3 win against the Cape Canaveral Launch at The Grand Lodge. César Domínguez nailed down his 33rd save. Washington goes to 85-57. The win puts them 7½ games up in their division.
Rodrigo Carrillo, who finished 5th in the AP in slugging percentage with .543 in 2066, chipped in a 3-run home run for Washington in the bottom of the second. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"It's not about individual awards," Lozaya told a Washington Gazette reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
