Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Iowa Crop Circles and Mexico City Diablos.
The Iowa Crop Circles picked up a win at The Cornfield, knocking off the Mexico City Diablos, 4-3. Starting pitcher Clyde Barfoot played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Barfoot, now 2-2. He tossed 6.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. The save went to Roberto Mendoza, number 30 for him.
Víctor Martínez dealt the Diablos a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and Iowa leading 2-0, Martínez hit a 2-1 cutter for a 2-run single.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Martínez told the Iowa Chronicle. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
The Crop Circles go to 58-85, putting them last in the Frontier Northern.
