Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Laredo Border Jumpers and Death Valley Burn.

The Laredo Border Jumpers downed the Death Valley Burn, 5-3, at BackWet Stadium. Javier Cruz led the way, going 3-for-4 for Laredo. The Frontier Southern-leading Border Jumpers are 85-61.

Cruz had a timely hit for Laredo in the bottom of the eighth. With Death Valley trailing 3-2, he turned a full count fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 38th home run of the season, making it 4-3, Laredo.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Cruz told the Laredo Observer.
