Cuervo Take Nail-Biter Over Railbirds
The San Jose Cuervo stopped the Reading Railbirds, 7-6, at Welsh Field. The Cuervo got a big game from Victor Baird, who belted 3 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored three times. San Jose reliever Henry McCoubrey was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Avery Craig. San Jose raised its record to 80-65 with the win.

The game came to an abrupt end with two out in the bottom of the 11th. On a pitch from Avery Craig, Derrick Thomas hit a run-scoring single. It gave San Jose the 7-6 win.

"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said San Jose field general Brandon Kirk.
