Martínez Hits Two Dingers, Lake Monsters Win, 6-3
|
2070 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Newark Falcons.
The Vermont Lake Monsters trumped the Newark Falcons, 6-3, at Welsh Field. Vermont left fielder Juan Martínez was terrific. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. With the win, Vermont upped its record to 93-55.
Martínez contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Vermont in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Martínez took a circle change from Matt Aranda and stroked the home run to left. His 25th home run of the season allowed the Lake Monsters to leap in front, 3-1.
Martínez called the triumph "a good team win."
