Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Border Jumpers
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Laredo Border Jumpers and Redstone Ridge Raptors.
The Laredo Border Jumpers picked up a win at The Raptor's Nest, knocking off the Redstone Ridge Raptors, 9-1. On the mound for Laredo was right-hander Michael Cook, who played a pivotal role in the win. Laredo goes to 86-62. The win puts them 9 games up in their division.
Laredo used a timely hit from Nelson Martínez to get the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Border Jumpers ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it made an impact.
Border Jumpers manager Dave Galindo had nothing but praise for his players after an impressive win, calling the result one of the team's best performances of the season. "Everything just came together on our end," he said. "I didn't need to do too much."
