Rum Runners Fall Short, 5-4, at Ozark
|
The Ozark Outlaws and Orlando Rum Runners obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.
The Ozark Outlaws overcame a good performance by Orlando designated hitter Scott Bennett to knock off Orlando, 5-4, at Incest Stadium. Bennett went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was Ramón Estrada. He's now 9-4. He went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits for the Outlaws.
The Outlaws got a big at-bat from third baseman Sidney Sloan. For the game, Sloan was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 24th double of the season gave Ozark a 5-3 lead.
Sloan said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
With the win, the Outlaws have a record of 95-55.
