The home team gave their fans plenty to cheer about, with a thrilling walk-off win.

Michigan left fielder Carlos Mendoza was sensational. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Vermont beat the Militia, 8-7. The Lake Monsters raised their record to 58-92.

Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 27-year old right fielder Ronnie Yan had a real shot to win the game. Michigan pitcher Eduardo Cortéz was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Yan hit a run-scoring single. The Lake Monsters had a walk-off triumph.

"The crowd was juiced," said Yan.
