Late Magic Gets Amarillo 9-6 Win
|
Manuel Costa was a major factor in the 9-6 Amarillo win over Minneapolis. The Chicken Haulers first baseman went 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Amarillo reliever Ryan Wheeler picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Greg Douglas was tagged with the loss. Ed Knox picked up the save, his 1st.
Costa had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 0-2 fastball from Greg Douglas, he banged a grand slam home run to center, giving the Chicken Haulers a 9-6 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Costa.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Chicken Haulers manager James Walker. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
The Chicken Haulers, with just their 3rd win so far in 2070, have yet to catch fire.
